Inspired Home Tour: Janna’s Floral Flat

Today, I am thrilled to showcase Janna’s great home on the blog in my new series “Inspired Tour.”Gallery Wall

Everyone who knows Janna knows she has a fondness for floral. Her closet has quite the selection and every room of her home is enlivened with blossoms. Though her basement apartment is not meant to be her forever home, Janna has made it into a cozy, eclectic space that reflects exactly who she is. So let’s start the tour!IMG_6233

What is your favourite household possession?

“My favourite item in my house has to be the antlers hanging above my bed. I got them from my late grandpa and I used them to create a jewelry rack. It is a usable storage solution for all of my jewelry but it also means a lot to me.”

Being a make-up artist and stylist, Janna has acquired quite the extensive beauty collection. She keeps it all organized with containers from Home Sense. On another wall she has created an earring holder from a vintage frame.DIY Framed Jewelry Organizer Jewelry Branch

What inspires you when it comes to home decor?

“My inspiration for my space comes from all the different places that I have traveled to or still want to travel to, as well as, my love of most things floral. I seem to always try to incorporate floral in every room. Floral to me equals happiness on some level!”Urban Floral Shower Curtain

One of the things I love about Janna’s space is that wherever you look she has created beautiful vignettes without it feeling cluttered. Paris Print Floral Headpiece

Here she has saved a floral headpiece she made for a photo shoot; a small token that represents a great day in her memory.

Janna’s art work is mainly vintage or hand crafted. She hung a tapestry from the Philippines (where her parents lived for a period of time) to bring extra warmth to the living space. The coffee table is one of a kind…She stenciled a gorgeous floral pattern on top of a black Lack table. A fabulous Ikea Hack! Just another small detail that makes her space unique.

Even if your home is a temporary place or a rental that doesn’t allow for major renovations, there are ways to make it your own. Here are a few tips:

  • Create one of a kind pieces! DIY projects are fun and make for a great Sunday afternoon.
  • Decorate with items that are personal and meaningful
  • Instead of spending money on wallpaper or paint, create beautiful gallery walls. You can frame prints, wallpaper samples, your own art…the possibilities are endless. And the frames come with you when you move.
  • Concentrate on textures to make the space feel warm and inviting. Combine both smooth and soft textures for a perfect balance.
  • Don’t hold off on great furniture pieces just because you want to move. Instead think neutral and buy pieces that could work in more than one space.

A big thank you to Janna for sharing her space! And if you are curious about anything you see, leave a comment and I’d be happy to reply.
