Summer Packing Tips: Music Fests

misc_summer_music_festivalsEvery summer, thousands flock to massive music festivals. This August, I too join the ranks and some of my dear friends, in attending Montreal’s Osheaga Festival. I can’t wait to sway to Daughter, to bounce along to Alt-J and to rock out to Mumford & Sons. And, I am really excited to document the people, the fashion, the excitement all on my blog. As I begin to check the ever changing weather forecast and think about the essential items I’ll be tossing in my suitcase, I know I’ll need an epic list to keep track of the necessities. So whether you too are attending Osheaga, or maybe Lollapalooza or Big Valley, here are some of the more important things to have on hand.

So it goes without saying that you’ll need your tickets or wristbands, cash, ID, cellphone, a map of the venue and schedule, and a camera to capture all the fun. Osheaga has a handy app that has a great map, tracks all your favourite artists and even sends you updates/reminders in the schedule. Check to see if your music fest offers something like this.

Hopefully you get nothing but gorgeous weather, but it’s always smart to plan for whatever mother nature can throw your way.

For Sunshine…

PackingEssentialsA great floppy hat from Free People | Ray Bans are always an excellent choice in either classic Wayfarer or Aviators | Aveeno Sunscreen is a current favourite | Eminence Organics Sun Defence Minerals – a bronzer and sun protection | Kiehls Lip Balm in Vanilla or Coconut is great sun protection while smelling amazing | I’m excited to throw on my Chuck’s | A great backpack from Free People to carry extra water bottles and maybe even a blanket to throw down

For Rain…Summer Packing Essentials for Music Fest

This Pac a Parka from Asos is a great lightweight rain coat that packs up into a small pouch | A light scarf to block out the chill from Madewell | Hunters are always a shoe in where rain and muck are concerned | If the bugs come out, some Bite Blocker will come in handy

Some other considerations:

Food and drink are expensive on the grounds. Bring your own water bottle to refill and if you can muster up some snacks like granola bars or trail mix and throw them in your bag, they may just save you.

Though it is improving, the whole toilet situation is never pleasant. Bring some extra tissues in case you get a poorly stocked one and some hand sanitizer.

You never know when the sun, the people, that one extra loud band, or the cocktails may get to you. Have some pain meds handy just in case.

And then grab your friends and start singing along to Mumford & Sons 🙂

I’m off to Montreal…can’t wait to experience my first Osheaga Music Fest! More posts to follow…
