The Best Pins of 2014

It is the last day of 2014!!

Following on the theme of the ‘best of’ I wanted to look at the images that gave me the most inspiration this past year. Now these particular choices may not have been the most pinned or most liked, but they are my personal choices for the best pins of 2014. I have always gathered images together and, like many others, it used to be primarily in the form of tearing apart magazines. Now with Pinterest, it is so much easier to find inspiration and I love visiting regularly!

The best pins of 2014Style & Fashion: A simple messy bun, a soft textured, pale sweater and the double pearl studs I have come to love. It pretty much sums up my day to day style and I absolutely love this image.

The best pins of 2014Travel: This image of NYC buildings topped my list. I love the composition, the colours and the fact that an image of a typical city street can say so much. This pin got me so excited for my own trip!

The best pins of 2014Quotes: When we lost Robin Williams this year, his quote spoke the loudest to me. It speaks to being yourself and taking risks. And I loved this Johnny Cash quote seen in a great blogger’s home. So much love happens in the simple day to day moments…

The best pins of 2014Home Office: I pinned a lot of office decor images this year because I was completing my own. These two stood out. I was particularly inspired by the mix of prints and the message to “Do More of What Makes You Happy.” Having an organized and beautiful desktop was also a big inspiration. A white, neutral design with small pops of brass became a favourite!

The best pins of 2014Kitchen: My favourite kitchens are primarily (surprise, surprise) white. But after seeing this first pin, I realized that dark cabinetry can still be done right. And this image also inspired me to use brass hardware in future projects (a big trend we saw in 2014). And yet, I still had to include this bright white kitchen. It combines all things I love – light wood, open shelving, black window frames and an element of rustic. Beautiful!

The best pins of 2014Living Room: I really became obsessed with the minimal Scandinavian designs this year. These two spaces are cozy, stylish and a great balance of textures. I love them!
The best pins of 2014Bedroom: I was the most inspired by this dramatic black bedroom this year. I never thought I would be brave enough to go dark (especially with how much I love white walls!!) but I am a changed woman! (wait and see!)

The best pins of 2014Gallery Walls: I completed one gallery wall in my living room and I have plans to do another one downstairs this year. It seems these types of pins aren’t going away any time soon, which is great! My two favourite combinations are above. They both are inspired by travel and are mostly black and white, with a touch of wood. Lovely!

The best pins of 2014Favourite pinner/designer: Every time Amber Interiors pinned a completed project, I took notice. I just love her!

The best pins of 2014Wedding: This is my absolute favourite pin on my “Marry Me” board. Hair? Perfection! Dress? My dream!! The flowers? Gorgeous! The joy radiating from the first look? I can’t wait for that! This image has it all!

And there you have my personal best pins of 2014. What do you think?? Which pins inspired you this year!! I’d love for you to follow along with me here in 2015 and see all the original sources for the images in my boards.

Happy New Year everyone! And check back tomorrow for my Blog year in review…a great trip down memory lane!
