Our Mexican Getaway

Ahhh, what a crazy week! I’m finally settling back into the day to day routine after our mexican getaway! It took me awhile to feel caught up since I didn’t get a day in between coming home and going back to the daily grind. But now, I am excited to spend some much needed time in front of the ‘ol lap top and fill you in on our trip.

We stayed in the Playacar region, nestled in right by the lovely town of Playa del Carmen. We loved this location because we could easily take a cab into town for a few dollars. Our resort had the most beautiful beach where the entertainment staff had a lot of fun activities going on everyday. Never a dull moment!Mexico

While Ryan and I had already been to the Tulum ruins, my family loved their excursion that included swimming with the turtles. Probably everyone’s favourite day though had to be the Xplor excursion. We loved the underwater swimming and paddling, ATV-ing, then flying high on the zip lines. I highly recommend it!Mexico

On New Years, our resort went all out with champagne, gorgeous food displays and fireworks.

NewYears2014It was so much fun to ring in the New Year with my family in another country and then to top it all off…get engaged!!! Yes, the proposal came out of the blue for me, to the point where I was badgering Ryan a bit for taking me to the beach so close to the countdown (“why are we down here?!?”). After I cried and blubbered the word yes, we ran back to my family where we all celebrated! I learned that Ryan had arranged and planned everything beforehand and my brother bravely escorted the ring through customs, narrowly avoiding being discovered!
