Site Revamp!

It was about a year ago that the beginnings of Inspired by Lynne started to come together…fast forward 12 months and here we are! I feel like I have learned so much about this blogging world, and yet, there is still so much left to discover. As I approach my one year anniversary, I decided that the site needed a bit of fine tuning…some polishing, if you will. I loved the layout of my blog but found that it was missing some key elements. First off, it wasn’t really friendly for mobile devices. In this day and age, so many people check blogs on their phones or click through to your site via Instagram. It was pretty important to me that my site could be viewed this way. Secondly, I had some issues when it came to navigating to other pages or previous blog posts. When readers are heading to your site, it’s great if they can easily click around and discover more posts. And finally, it just needed a bit more pizazz in terms of appearance and aesthetic.

So, I did some research and found a great site with themes that were exactly what I was looking for! And I thought I should share my experience for any future bloggers out there. Bluchic Themes are geared towards women-owned businesses that are stylish, sweet and social. Sounds pretty perfect right?! I mean, I AM all of those things 😉 Here is why I went with a Bluchic theme and would recommend them to others:Screen Shot 2014-06-08 at 9.20.00 PM

1. Support!! I had a small issue (more because I can be computer illiterate at times) and I sent them an email – at about 11:00 PM. The next morning, boom! I had a support ticket waiting in my inbox! And it made sense, helping me fix the problem immediately. I was so impressed with how fast they got back to me. And when I bought the theme, it came with great instructions on how to set everything up. Dummy proof really!

2. Customizing! I spent some time looking at the showcase of themes, which I would absolutely recommend doing before purchasing one. I loved how every site looked unique. These themes have a good variety of options. You can play with colours, background, change the header easily, try different layouts…Oh, and have beautiful sharing options too. I had so much fun customizing the new Inspired by Lynne!

3. Price! With what you get, I think the price is just right. And there are options to do an all in one bundle where you get a business card design, social media set and a newsletter format. Paying a bit more for the original theme was really worth it for me because I want the site to show off the content in the best way possible. It was a no brainer!Screen Shot 2014-06-08 at 9.20.36 PM

Maybe purchasing themes such as this may not be the way to go when first starting out, depending on how serious you are about pursuing blogging, but I am so happy with my site revamp. It was absolutely worth it. There are still small details I am looking to add but after one year, I am really happy with where the blog is heading. What do you think of the new and improved look?

A big thank you to Paul for getting me started on this journey and for Janna for her help pouring over layouts and designs with me!

Great things to come in year 2 of blogging!
